Genie Cohen, Executive Director, IAJVSGenie Cohen is the Executive Director of the International Association of Jewish Vocational Services (IAJVS), located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. IAJVS is a not-for-profit trade association linking 28 social service agencies in the United States, Canada, and Israel. IAJVS member agencies provide a wide range of educational, vocational, and rehabilitation services in their local areas. Agency clients come from both the Jewish and non-Jewish communities. Ms. Cohen and the IAJVS staff provide technical, informational, and communications support to their member agency Executive Directors and professional staff. IAJVS researches government and private funding opportunities, develops collaborative programs, and serves as the voice of the Jewish vocational network both nationally and internationally. IAJVS also sponsors an annual conference at which its members can pursue continuing education, exchange ideas, and deepen collegial working relationships.

Ms. Cohen came to IAJVS in 1998. During the previous fourteen years, she held several management positions at the Jewish Employment and Vocational Services (JEVS) in Philadelphia: including Director, Staff Development and Training; and Director, Refugee Programs. Ms. Cohen has extensive experience in designing, implementing, and monitoring programs and funding for both professional staff and agency clients. Before joining JEVS, Ms. Cohen provided similar services at the Nationalities Service Center in Philadelphia as Program Manager, English as a Second Language Program for Southeast Asian Refugees.

Ms. Cohen has served as an Executive Board Member of the Association of Jewish Vocational Service Professionals. She is currently on the Executive Board of Directors of the Jewish Communal Service Association. In 1997, she received the Claudia Fogel award in recognition for excellence in leadership, skills, and commitment to Jewish Communal Service.

Ms. Cohen holds Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts (Magna Cum Laude, History Honor Society) degrees from Temple University, plus a certificate from the Tri-State Jewish Leadership Development Program.
