As the trade association for Jewish
vocational service and Jewish family and children's service
agencies, IAJVS provides its members with a wide variety of
services, ranging from communications support to technical assistance
and from information sharing to research. IAJVS has facilitated
the design of three national programs. The first program aimed
to help welfare recipients make the transition into the workforce.
The second program provided computer-based training to individuals
with disabilities. The third program was designed to outreach
to and recruit young people with disabilities into national
and community service. The first 2 initiatives were funded
by the U.S. Department of Labor and the third was funded by
the Corporation for National and Community Service. IAJVS staff
continues to research additional funding opportunities for its
members.
As an international association, IAJVS advocates on behalf
of its members, represents the network nationally and internationally,
and supports the development of its member agencies and their
staff via professional development seminars, educational
conference calls, quarterly newsletters and an annual conference.
