| The JVS network is guided by a common
mission set forth by the medieval Jewish philosopher, Moses
Maimonides: the greatest charity lies in helping people to
become self-sufficient. By entering into partnerships with
individuals in need, teaching job skills and self-reliance,
we eliminate the necessity for future aid.
The services and resources provided by the JVS network to
help welfare recipients transition from welfare to work range
from job readiness and skills training and certification
to support and retention services. These services are provided
through a national welfare to work initiative administered
by IAJVS, as well as by affiliate agencies that operate programs
in their local communities.
